At Main Market Co-op, summer means one thing: fresh, juicy blueberries that taste like sunshine. These tiny blue gems aren’t just delicious - they’re packed with antioxidants, vitamin C, and fiber, making them one of nature’s best superfoods.
When you choose organic blueberries, you’re skipping synthetic pesticides and supporting farming practices that protect pollinators, soil health, and clean water. That means healthier fruit for your family and a healthier environment for everyone.
And the best part? They’re incredibly versatile. Sprinkle them over your morning oatmeal, toss them into salads for a burst of sweetness, or bake them into muffins for a cozy weekend treat.
Today, we’re sharing one of our favorite ways to enjoy them: a simple, no-fuss Organic Blueberry Crisp. It’s quick, crowd-pleasing, and makes your kitchen smell amazing.
Organic Blueberry Crisp
Serves: 6
Ingredients:
4 cups fresh organic blueberries
2 tbsp organic cane sugar (optional, adjust to taste)
1 tbsp organic lemon juice
1 cup rolled oats
½ cup organic whole wheat flour (or almond flour for gluten-free)
½ cup organic brown sugar
½ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp sea salt
½ cup cold organic butter (or coconut oil for vegan), cut into cubes
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large bowl, toss blueberries with cane sugar and lemon juice. Spread evenly in a greased 8x8 baking dish.
In another bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in butter until the mixture is crumbly.
Sprinkle the topping evenly over blueberries.
Bake for 35–40 minutes, until the top is golden and the fruit is bubbly.
Serve warm, ideally with a scoop of organic vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
Tip: Organic blueberries freeze beautifully — stock up now while they’re in season so you can enjoy them year-round.
